Position Summary

Responsible for all areas of student and parent loans, from counseling, certification, disbursements, repayment and default prevention.  Assist with needs analysis.  Verify students selected for verification by the Department of Education.  Serve as financial aid liaison for off-campus study, including completion and monitoring of consortium agreements, budget revisions, and student counseling.  Import daily records from DOE and COD via EDconnect.  Counsel students and parents/guardians regarding their financial aid offer and financing options. Promote and manage the iGrad financial literacy awareness. Manage and oversee annual Federal Work-Study and Financial Value Transparency (FVT) reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage student loan administration process from start to finish by certifying student Federal Direct Student Loans, Federal Direct Parent PLUS loans, and private alternative loans, including importing and exporting origination and disbursement files, calculating eligibility, adjusting loans as needed, and completing monthly Federal Direct Loan reconciliation. Oversee federal entrance counseling support and compliance, and conduct in-person exit counseling sessions.  Oversee default prevention for Hamilton graduates in repayment. 
  • Perform federal verification for returning and newly admitted students.  This includes monitoring all federal regulation rules and updates.  Attend in-person and online federal student trainings to remain current with all applicable federal regulations.
  • Assist the Associate Director with need-analysis for domestic returning and newly admitted students.
  • Act as the financial aid liaison for Office of Global Learning. This includes advising students of their financial aid adjustments during off-campus study semester(s), maintaining consortium agreements, and revising financial aid offers. Provide general guidance to the office about future changes to off-campus study.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for students taking a personal leave of absence from the college, performing exit loan counseling and advising on future aid eligibility.
  • Serve as liaison for Hamilton’s financial literacy product, iGrad, working to inform students of value and usage.  Work toward partnering with another campus office for further exposure of product.
  • Counsel enrolled and prospective students, parents and guardians regarding their financial aid offer and financing options.
  • Oversee annual Federal Work-Study reporting.
  • Oversee FVT reporting as required
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Education & Experience

Associates degree with three to five years of job-related experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience with PowerFAIDS, Colleague, Workday, Excel, COD, FSA Partner Connect, and EDconnect preferred
  • Detailed knowledge of federal regulations
  • Proficient with Excel spreadsheets
  • Ability to work both without direct supervision, and as a team player
  • Self-motivated, problem-solver
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Compensation Range:

$25.27 - $28.57 per hour
