The State University of New York at Old Westbury invites applications for a full-time Bursar. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Business Affairs & Controller, the Bursar is responsible for leading a team that works within the Student Financial Services Center (SFS). The Bursar is an integral part of the University's Division of Business & Finance. This position oversees all aspects of student accounts, manages the accounts receivable module in the College's student information system, and addresses any escalated issues as needed. In addition, the Bursar is responsible for IRS 1098-T compliance as well as management of credit card processing and student refunds. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Minimum Qualifications:
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Business, Accounting or a related field. Five (5) years of full-time experience in business management, billing/accounting, accounts receivable, banking or customer service to include two (2) years of supervisory experience and experience utilizing technology to improve business processes, preferably in higher education. Strong verbal and written communication skills to include: writes clearly and informatively; presents numerical data effectively; and able to interpret complex written information. Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations. Strong Excel skills. Excellent customer service skills and commitment to excellence at all staff levels. Cultural competence and ability to communicate effectively with diverse constituencies. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Able to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure, handling multiple tasks and assuring delegated work is performed timely and with highest quality. Ability to exhibit empathy and diplomacy. Ability to make independent decisions. Ability to propose negotiated solutions. Ability to maintain accurate and concise information in systems. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Commitment to the success of the students and the University and meeting and sustaining enrollment goals.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with Ellucian Banner Student Financial system and demonstrated experience managing students accounts. Experience with and knowledgeable of enterprise resources planning (ERP) systems for student finance. Experience in student related services and knowledgeable of federal financial aid regulations. Experience in leading a diverse staff and working in a collaborative environment.
Additional Information:
Salary range: $62,596.00 - $86,000.00 (plus location pay of $3,400.00) commensurate with education and experience
Effective 7/1/2025: $64,474.00 - $86,000.00 (plus location pay of $4,000.00) commensurate with education and experience
