The associate director for financial aid serves on the leadership team, supervises staff members, oversees specific aid programs, and manages student-facing operations to ensure quality service is provided to all students and stakeholders.
As a member of the leadership team, the incumbent stays abreast of all federal and state regulations and provides guidance on policies and procedures to ensure the university remains compliant. The associate director is closely involved in the office’s automation and system testing plans to create efficiencies in student aid delivery
The associate director supervises professional and classified staff members. Supervision includes training staff, responding to questions, and following the procedures outlined by human resources regarding performance programs and evaluations.
The associate director manages all aspects of the Federal Work-Study and Federal Direct PLUS Loan programs. Additionally, the associate director oversees federal verification, return of Title IV withdrawal calculations, and performs all types of professional judgement requests.
The associate director provides direct counseling to a diverse student population regarding all aspects of the financial aid process. Such counseling may be provided in person, by telephone, or virtually. The position also requires responding to office emails. Presentations are required, and some evening and weekend hours are also required for events such as Open House or high school nights.
