Duties:

A. Provides professional service to students and families seeking information regarding FAFSA completion, the College's financial aid process, and maintaining financial aid eligibility.
B. Assists students and families with FAFSA and state financial aid applications both in-person and virtually.
C. Responsible for creating and scheduling FAFSA events at both the College and local high schools in the College's service area.
D. Proactively communicate with students and their families about FAFSA completion by making phone calls, attending events, sending postcards, visiting classrooms, etc.
E. Responsible for notifying the Department of Public Relations and Community Affairs and Marketing about FAFSA events.
F. Maintains data on all events and attendees in Slate.
G. Periodically collects, organizes, analyzes, and presents FAFSA completion data in a meaningful manner.
H. Demonstrates skills necessary to look at the FAFSA completion process critically to make recommendations for improvement.
I. Coordinates the FAFSA Completion Corps FWS students' schedule to ensure they can support FAFSA events.
J. Remains current in the knowledge of state and federal aid and provides uprated accurate information to students and families.
K. Assists the office with general financial aid communications to students.
L. Assists with scanning and indexing financial aid documentation into OnBase.
M. Performs other duties as assigned.

College Alignment:

The primary function of the Financial Aid Specialist is to assist students with the completion and submission of financial aid applications, ensuring they receive the necessary guidance to secure funding for their education. This role is critical in enhancing student access to financial aid resources, supporting student retention and success, and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.

  1. Qualifications:
    1. Education: Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
    2. Experience: Minimum of one year of paid experience required. Office experience required and knowledge of financial aid is preferred.
